Religious Society of Friends - Quakers of Orlando, Florida

Orlando Friends (Quakers): The Orlando Meeting is located near downtown Orlando. All are welcome. Off street parking is available behind the meeting house. There is wheelchair access at the (main) rear entrance. Our meetinghouse has a small lending library, and there are on-site accommodations for Friends traveling on Friends' business.

Tradition of Worship: The Orlando Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends is unprogrammed in its form of worship. There is no sermon or ritual. Those attending sit in silent stillness - open to the leading of the Spirit. When moved to speak a person will make a statement of ministry. Others may also be led to speak. After about an hour the meeting is concluded with people shaking hands with others nearby.

Meeting for Business

Meeting for Worship begins every First Day (Sunday) at 10 am. First day school, religious education for the young people, is also at 10 am. Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business is held every 2nd First Day / Sunday in the month following worship.

Meeting for Learning: Using a discussion format, a Quaker perspective on current events may be discussed. Specific religious issues may be examined or a special book is reviewed. Also, Meeting for Learning provides an opportunity for Visitors to learn about the Quaker Way.

Meeting for Singing is held at 9:15 am prior to worship.
